Zephaniah
Questions:
- What hymns or worship songs can you think of with warnings of coming judgment? Why do you think there are so few?
- Do find any similarity between the kinds of sins among God's people in 1:4-6 and in the modern day church? What makes you think this
- Zephaniah means “Jehovah hides” or “Jehovah protects.” What comfort does this give you? What mental picture do you have of this hiding or protection?
- If God were to clear out the idols in our culture today, what would they be and what might he do?
- How would you describe Jerusalem during Zephaniah’s time?
- Why do you think the prophets end their messages with words of hope?
- How do God’s wrath, judgment, mercy, and grace work with one another?
- What application points can we have from a prophetic book like Zephaniah?
